FCCLA-Responsibility.org Capitol Leadership Scholarship Contest
Find Your Voice and Take a Stand on Teen Driver Safety
Create an Award-Winning Legislative Advocacy Plan
FCCLA and Responsibility.org (Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility) have partnered to expand the reach of IKnowEverything (IKE), an integrated national program about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.
FCCLA chapters now are being called to further action: Create an advocacy plan reaching out to your state legislators as part of your National Teen Driver Safety Week (Oct. 19-25) activities and vie for scholarships to attend the 2014 FCCLA Capitol Leadership training, which will be held Oct. 12-15, in Washington, D.C.
An individual scholarship ($1,500) -- to help underwrite participation in Capitol Leadership training -- will be awarded to each chapter whose legislative advocacy plans rank in the Top 5. A total of five (5) $1,500 individual scholarships will be awarded.
As part of the application, chapters must show how they used the IKE Teen Driver Safety Action Toolkit to develop their advocacy plan.
Scholarship recipients must attend Capitol Leadership, will be required to present their plan to Responsibility.org staff, and meet with their national representatives. There also is a “report back” requirement for award-winning chapters.
The deadline for applications is July 25, 2014. Scholarship winners will be notified in mid-August.
