Jarrod Salaiz

National First Vice-President

As a senior at Edinburg High School in Edinburg, Texas, Jarrod Salaiz has spent his entire life reaching for new goals and living out his dreams! He first joined FCCLA at the young age of twelve where he competed in STAR Events, achieving a gold at the national conference, but this was not the first time Jarrod had experienced a national conference, oh no! His mother, a driving force in Jarrod’s FCCLA career, was a family and consumer science teacher and brought him along for all her fun-filled FCCLA trips. It was during his toddler years that Jarrod was able to experience the organizations leadership building and fun, action packed conferences. Since then, Jarrod has continued to stay active in the organization through participation in programs and projects, on the national, state, regional, and local levels.
Throughout his tenure in FCCLA, Jarrod has been able to travel to five national conferences, two cluster meetings, and various other locations across the country. While traveling is fun, Jarrod also remains focused on his leadership roles in the organization. He has served as State Recording Secretary, State Vice President of Programs, State President and is now your National First Vice President.
Apart from FCCLA, Jarrod also stays active in various other activities. He is currently Vice President for his high school student council and National Honor Society programs. He is also the editor for his local magazine, “The Cooridor”, serves as captain of the varsity tennis team, is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and was recently voted “Most Reliable Male” by his class and “Most Likely to Change the World”.
When he is not swamped with activities, Jarrod loves to spend time with his friends, bowling, ice skating, and eating out! He also enjoys cool lemonade on a hot summer day and long walks on the beach. Jarrod spends his weekend evenings cruising around on scavenger hunts and adventures with his friends and was even dubbed, “The Scavenger Hunt King”.
Jarrod’s friends and family have encouraged him to strive for excellence and is largely responsible for his success throughout his life. His parents served as mentors and guided him into such positive paths as FCCLA while his two sisters, Brittney and Aubrey, instilled in him confidence and served as amazing role models to look up to.
Jarrod plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin and someday get accepted into law school were he can become a lawyer and with the skills he has obtained in FCCLA, guide America’s families and communities toward new horizons!
