Jason Westerheide

FCCLA National President

Jason Westerheide, the National President of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), has not only been inspired but has lived out the words of Eleanor Roosevelt when she said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Jason, a senior at Minster High School in Minster, Ohio, discovered FCCLA when taking a Family and Consumer Science class his sophomore year. He realized that this student organization was his way to learn about leadership, develop life skills and values, and positively affect the lives of families and communities.  Jason was on the Parliamentary Procedure team for two years, serving as the chair for one year, served as the Chapter Reporter, and participated in many FCCLA National Programs, with his favorite program being Community Service.
Jason believes that without FCCLA, he would not be the person he is today. Through the skills he has gained in FCCLA, Jason won the Ohio American Legion High School National Oratorical Contest, has received many community service awards, and had the opportunity to meet Ohio Governor, Ted Strickland.
Jason has been a lifeguard at the Minster Swimming Pool for three years, a youth lector, server, and Eucharist Minister at his Church, a member of the National Honor Society, served as the president of the Minster High School Drama Club, a member of the marching and symphonic bands, and President of the Student Council.
Jason is honored and excited to be leading the greatest student organization of today.  Family and Consumer Science Education and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America have been sculpting today’s youth into tomorrow’s leaders by the vast opportunities provided.  He believes that the skills and values that are offered and the opportunities presented by FCCLA, everyone involved can and will be successful in their lives. He wants everyone to set their goals high, “Dare to Dream”, and work diligently to achieve those goals and dreams, because the “Future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
