Getting started:
Review files in the Family and Consumer Sciences department to determine previous FCCLA activities.
Contact your state adviser and talk to FCCLA chapter advisers in your area. CLICK HERE to find your State Adviser contact information.
Review school policies regarding student organizations. Discuss with school administrators the advantages of starting an FCCLA chapter.
Seek those who would be interested in joining FCCLA. Remember, they must have taken, or be currently enrolled in, a Family and Consumer Sciences class.
Collect membership dues and affiliate. More affiliation information is available in the Be Part of It! Membership Kit.
Identify chapter leaders. Hold an election of officers for your chapter. Use the FCCLA Handbook for more information on how to effectively choose chapter officers.
Train members to promote the membership "3R's" - Recruit, Retain, and Recognize. Carry out a variety of the "3R's" to suit your chapter's and school's needs.
Attend district/region, state and nationally sponsored events to become familiar with FCCLA activities.
Report results and apply for recognition at the national and state level.
